Job Purpose

  • Lead the Fire Protection section of the area (multiple operating assets & projects)  assigned to ensure the functionality and integrity of all fire protection systems.

Key Job Accountabilities - I

  • Prepare, review and validate Fire protection design and construction technical submittal as Fire Protection Subject Matter Expert (SME) at various stages of Project including FEED, detailed engineering, Construction and Commissioning.

  • Develops and oversees the Inspection, Testing and Maintenance (ITM) program for fixed & portable firefighting equipment across the company facilities assigned to ensure integrity and readiness of firefighting equipment at all times.

  • Lead the fire protection section to review engineering drawings/plans and specifications for fire protection. Interfaces with existing systems & infrastructure to ensure all new construction, renovation, and improvements meet International Fire Protection Codes and best industry standards.

  • Implements ITM monitoring, performance evaluation & verification process to ensure consistent reporting, analysis of results and timely follow-up to enhance effectiveness of ITM program .

  • Ensures fire protection awareness trainings to the relevant personnel in order to achieve the division’s fire protection training objectives.

Key Job Accountabilities - II

  • Reviews and advises amendments to fire protection procedures based on regulatory changes, technological changes, or lessons learned from previous projects or facility modifications, by reviewing and assessing the processes, developing systems and taking corrective actions as needed to enhance the current systems & practices

  • Performs regular quality and safety audits on 3rd party services and contractors to ensure compliance to Fire Protection regulatory requirements and prepares Fire Protection Reports and closely monitors corrective actions towards its closure to ensure full compliance.

  • Facilitates fire protection impairment risk assessments and advises on fire protection principles incorporated in various risk assessment tools that are used companywide to ensure the safe execution of critical activities during normal and shutdown operations.

  •  Assists Head of Fire Protection in the process of planning, preparation of budget and objective setting of the section to ensure accurate budgeting.

  •  Leads the investigation of fire protection system / equipment related accidents/ incidents, determines root causes and implements measures necessary to prevent a recurrence in line with the Company’s accident investigation and reporting procedure.

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed higher secondary education.

  • Completion of associated/relevant qualifications
    (Modules on Fire Engineering Science, Fire Science, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigation).

Knowledge and/or Experience

  • 10 years’ experience, including 5 years in fire protection in Energy and/ or process industry.

  • Knowledge of current national and international legislation related to fire protection.

  • Evidence of fire protection / fire safety achievement.
